Ph.D. student
Jayanth Jayakumar graduated with an integrated master’s degree (dual degree of B.Sc. and M.Sc.) in physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India (2011-2016). During his master’s studies, he participated in a research project in quantum optics as a visiting student in the group of Prof. Andal Narayanan at the Raman Research Institute in Bangalore.
Between 2016 and 2019, he stayed at two renowned research institutes: the Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Chennai and the Harish-Chandra Research Institute in Prayagraj (Allahabad), with Prof. C. M. Chandrashekar and Prof. Ujjwal Sen, respectively. During this time, he was working on quantum random walks.
Since January 2020, Jayanth Jayakumar has held a research position in the group of Prof. B. Prasanna Venkatesh at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, where he worked on quantum thermodynamics. His current research interests lie in the area of quantum information theory, particularly quantum random walks, quantum optics, and quantum thermodynamics. In addition to physics, Jayanth is also interested in football and singing Indian music.
